Guillaume Postel (1510-1581)

Guillaume Postel was a French scholar, linguist and theologian who lived during the Renaissance. He was born in Rouen, France, and was educated at the University of Paris. Postel was a proponent of the humanist movement, which sought to revive the study of the Classical world and its values, and was an avid student of languages. He was fluent in several languages, including Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic and Syriac.

Postel was a proponent of the unity of all religions and of the reconciliation of science and religion. He was a strong advocate of the use of reason and dialogue in order to bring about peace and understanding between people of different backgrounds. He wrote extensively on the subject, and his most famous work was De la Réconciliation des Dogmes, which was published in 1530.

Postel also wrote extensively on astrology, alchemy and the occult. He believed that the secrets of the universe could be found through understanding the arcane sciences. He wrote several books on these subjects, including De Occulta Philosophia, which was published in 1545.
